Acceptance Criteria for Column Care
Referral to Column Care can come from the following:
- CMHT's
- In-patient Services
- Crisis Team, Dual Diagnosis
- Self referral (private funding)
- G.P
Residents referred to Column Care are expected to meet the criteria listed below.
Referral Criteria
Residents referred to Column Care are expected to meet ALL THREE MANDITORY Criteria:
- Adults aged between 18-65 years.
- Have a clinical diagnosis of a severe and persistent mental disorder associated with a high level of disability.
1 POSSIBLE INDICATORS OF THIS WOULD BE:
- Primary diagnosis of schizophrenia or any other organic mental illness.
- Their mental disorder will be closely linked to difficulties of coping with Everyday life.
- Have difficulty in maintaining lasting and consenting contact with services.
- Starting dual diagnosis is also available.
2 POSSIBLE INDICATORS OF THIS WOULD BE:
- On Section 25 or guardianship of the MHA 1983.
- History of irregular or failed appointments with services.
- Non-compliance with prescribed medication.
- Significant risk of persistent self-harm or neglect.
- Poor response to previous treatment.
- Combined substance misuse and serious mental illness (dual diagnosis).
- Detained under Mental Health Act (1983) on at least one occasion in the past two years.
- Unstable accommodation or homelessness.
- Poor social support network or inadequate support from family.
