Statement of Purpose
A safe and secure environment, whilst promoting independence will be provided by Column Care team. This will involve emotional, psychological, physical and spiritual support.
Column Care will where necessary provide personal care, for residents not able to wash, bathe or use the toilet whilst encouraging independence. This may occur if a resident has a physical disability or medication related disablement, such as catatonic state.
Each resident will have an initial assessment and a more detailed assessment upon admission to the unit. A Life-Plan will be put into action on arrival, in which the resident is encouraged to participate as fully as possible. We encourage positive input throughout their stay at Column House by inviting residents to the staff meetings as well as holding their own, in order to promote and reinstate autonomy. We also encourage the families, friends and other professionals to have input at meetings.
Training is promoted and provided for all staff at Column House in order to ensure continuing development and to improve of the care provided.
Column Care will continue to provide this unique and positive therapeutic environment until such a time that the resident can further their independence in a move to an independent living environment in an area and home of their choice. Column Care will continue to offer 24/7 telephone support until the resident can manage thier return into everyday life.
